Longford Lights

Artistic Director 2024-2025

Longford Lights is a partnership between Longford County Council and Mide Arts Group. Funding support is provided by the Arts Council of Ireland, Creative Ireland, and Fáilte Ireland.
It is a magical colour and light immersive experience  built by artists and the local community. Longford Lights 2024 centred around the theme of 'belonging’, made for and by the people.
Invited Artists 2024;  Tommy Casby (Assistant AD), Tom Meskell, Caoimhe Dunn, Michelle Dufaur, Cal y Canto, Mary Fleming, Babylon Inferno, Bula Bula Samba Band.
Open Call Artists; Paul Bokslag,  Nocht, Philip Fogarty, Stevie Wicks, Finn Nichol, Emma Donaghue, Alla Shmyhovska, Anna Weircioch, Hanlon Artworks, Engage, Pat Taffte.

Community and artistic spirit comes together for Longford Lights, with hundreds of people from the local community working alongside national and international artists.  It is both grassroots in its creation and ambitious in its vision. The building of the festival creates spaces for artistic learning within the community and among artists. It creates a buzz of activity, a new way to see Longford Town and many new opportunities for local artists
“My main concern was to stay true to TomMeskell and Shane Crossan’s vision from Longford Lights 23, of community participation and building the local artists participatory practice, while delivering something recognisable yet new and
surprising, with more active engagement for the audience, by introducing different light art forms and performance.”
