Emo NS Percent for Art Commission 2011
"Places We Love To Be, Things We Love To Do"
The artwork is a wall installation over two levels which is carved low-relief woodcut , painted, inked and sealed.  It takes the form of a pathway, echoing not only the pathways around Emo Court but also pathways in education and a child’s growing knowledge of their surrounding world as they progress through primary school. This path can be seen from downstairs and upstairs as well as being reflected in the glass partitions. Close up, you see the detail of all the things that make Emo special, while from further away, the artwork appears as a rainbow of colours.  It is envisaged that the detail within the work will sustain the pupils' interest throughout their 8 years in the school, noticing new things, or reinterpreting aspects, as they grow. (Click image above to link to the Emo Artwork website  )
There was considerable interaction with the school during the commission through workshops, studio visits and a weekly blog.
